English Paper Pieced Plus+ Quilt - a finished top

Welcome,

Whilst I was unable to get near a sewing machine for months with lack of time and space I did manage to do some hand stitching and completed this Plus+ Quilt top.

I love it, it is made with shot cottons, aren't they gorgeous?

I used 2 inch 'houses' for this project, my templates are available for purchase and download here.

I actually finished piecing the top in about April and then it got put away.

I have now dragged it out of hiding, pulled all of the paper pieces out and have it ready for quilting.

In my sewing down time I have also created some worksheets and a pattern for this quilt ... information to follow

Quilt Stats:
  - 744 English Paper Pieced Pieces
  - 136 Plus' make up the centre
  - 60 x 60 inches finished size

Paper Pieced Muddled Geese - A finished project

Welcome,

I first introduced my English Paper Pieced Flying Geese quilt here.

I have now finally put the finishing touches to it and can call it a finished quilt.

I used my 6" downloadable Flying Geese English Paper Pieces which can be found on Etsy here along with other sizes including 2", 3", 4" and 5".

Due to my printing error this quilt ended up slightly smaller than anticipated with 5.5" flying Geese ... printing errors happen to all of us at times, I didn't notice until I finished.

I used my flying geese 'Muddled Geese' layout - pattern sheets to follow.

I quilted it with simple straight lines following all of the seam lines (or 'in the ditch') around each flying geese block. This also meant that each goose got a quilting line down the centre and the quilt finished with an all over 5.5 inch grid of quilting.

I backed the quilt with a gorgeous purple fabric.  The selvage doesn't tell me what fabric line it's from unfortunately.

Stay tuned for the Muddled Geese pattern sheets, perfect for planning your Muddled Geese quilt whether you EPP it or use traditional machine piecing methods.

Thanks for popping by.

Intoducing English Paper Piecing Plus Pieces

Welcome,

As usual I can't help myself and I have more than one English Paper Piecing (EPP) project on the go at once.

I have been playing with patterns, I'm starting my EPP Plus journey with something simple:
However with just these 3 shapes - 'house', square and half square triangle other patterns can also be created:

Of course, you don't have to stick with the plus, other patterns can be created:

I have also created downloadable templates for EPP which are avalable from my Etsy store so that you can create some of your own

These are available with a 1 inch house and a 2 inch house (measured across the bottom)

Please share any pieces you create using these downloads.

Introducing English Paper Pieced Muddled Geese

Welcome

I've been working on some new English Paper Pieced (EPP) pieces lately, I've been really enjoying doing my hand piecing and relaxing at the end of the day

I've wanted to complete a flying geese quilt for a long time but have been intimidated by the points and decided that I have much more control over that with EPP

I've used large geese for this quilt, each 'goose' is meant to be 6" x 3" finished, BUT ... I printed my own shapes and forgot to uncheck the 'fit to page' option meaning that they were reduced in size ... a rooky error that I haven't made in a LONG time.

I didn't notice until I had finished it - so this quilt is made with 5.5" x 2.25" flying geese, making it a finish of 33 inches square

I've raided my scraps for this quilt trying to choose pairs of fabrics that incorporate a low(ish) and high(ish) volume fabric, but more importantly, pairs that co-ordinated with each other.

I always print and cut my own templates.

I created downloadables that can be purchased on etsy, I shared information about them here, or you can find them in a variety of sizes in my Etsy store here.

Just remember to uncheck the 'fit to page' option when printing!

Now I have to try and make some time to get back to the machine to quilt it.

Thank you for popping by,
Vicki
